J. Annie MacLeod

J. Annie MacLeod teaches English at a small college in Maryland, mainly classes in fiction writing, women writers, Victorian mass culture, and the literatures of food. A selection of her critical publications include an anthology of food literature, Books that Cook: The Making of Literary Meal, and a collection of essays by women about their passionate and unusual relationships with machines, From Curlers to Chainsaws. A former Fulbright Scholar to both Amsterdam and Slovenia, MacLeod is also a contributor to Ms. Magazine as well as a professor for The Great Courses and Audible.com; her newest lecture series is “Books that Cook: Food and Fiction.” MacLeod has also published numerous short stories. Twice nominated for a Pushcart Prize, her work has been published in journals from Story Magazine to So To Speak to Versal to The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. In 2013, she was awarded a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award for fiction. “A Letter” is her first published poem.
