Urban Gardening in LA

Garden in Santa Monica

A group of UCLA students have recently launched a new initiative in Los Angeles County to accommodate the growing trend in urban gardening.  Known as “Cultivate LA,” the students have created an online assessment of the urban agriculture scene in the greater Los Angeles area.  Not only does the website (cultivatelosangeles.org) provide users with an extensive survey of over 1200 urban agricultural sites in the city, it also hopes to include future studies on the role of school gardens in teaching children about nutrition.  To read more about Cultivate LA and their role in urban gardening, visit the following article by NPR.
