Questions & Activities

  • Do abstractions and ideals (such as beauty) ever get in your way of appreciating creation (such as the sea)?
  • Take some time today (or this weekend) to go outdoors for a walk. Let the walk become a prayer. Notice the beauty of your surroundings, landscapes and creatures, in themselves. Be present only to the surroundings, let all other concerns and worries subside for the time being. Focus only on the surroundings and the feelings they elicit.
  • Take time afterwards to reflect: did the walk re-orient you in anyway? Was it calming to focus only on the surroundings? Was it hard to rid yourself of distractions?
