The USDA’s recently released Census of Agriculture has shown a decrease in the number of U.S. farms and acreage of farmland between 2007 and 2012. National Geographic has made an interactive graphic of the USDA’s findings, showing state’s average compared to the national average and then a breakdown by category. While there was an overall decrease nationwide, some states saw an increase in both farms and farmland.
